Monday 4th May 2020
Good morning Otters,
I hope that you all had a fun weekend even though the weather was a bit chillier and are now ready for more exciting learning this week. It was great speaking to lots of you on the telephone last week and hearing from others by email as to how your week was going. I look forward to hearing more during this week and of course seeing all those wonderful photographs on our celebration Padlet page.
Reading and Phonics Year 1 and EYFS Remember to continue to use Oxford Reading Owl for more on-line books to read this week.
Daily phonic lessons from Letters and Sounds will support learning of new sounds which are needed to help with your child’s reading.
Maths This week you will be learning more about number bonds and using them to help solve maths problems.
English Your learning this week is linked with holidays. You will be writing about a picture which will then help you to write a postcard and a poem. Finally you will be writing some questions using question words – What? Why? Where? When?
History and Geography Linking with the holiday theme in English I would like you to watch a PowerPoint about Seaside Holidays Now and Then, talking about the pictures with mum or dad and answering any questions as you go along. I have also added two maps, one you might like to use for reference and the other for locating holiday places your child might have heard about or have visited.
RE Last week we began learning about Buddhism. This week we are continuing this with a colouring activity.
For those of you who are enjoying the Oak National Academy or White Rose Maths they are a set of fabulous daily lessons to support learning.
Maths This week I would like you to learn more about number to 20, position and size.
English We are practising more of our Phase 3 graphemes.
History and Geography (The World) Like Year 1 can you and your child watch the PowerPoint please. They might like to draw a picture of a bathing machine for me.
RE (People and Communities) We are continuing with Special Places. This week I would like your child to think about why some rooms are special.
I hope you have a super week and I look forward to seeing some of your work.
